Hey everyone, I'm on the hunt for a reliable local gunsmith. If you've had any work done, whether it was repairs or custom work, I'd love to hear your recommendations and experiences.

What side of the state, there are a couple good ones in NE Ohio. Andy Horvath is really good, one of the best in the entire country, he does a lot of custom work. I'm guessing he might have a wait list.

Howard at Mancave Machine is really good as well, I was going to have him do some work for me but I ended up figuring it out on my own. He does repairs and custom work.

I'm not a trained gunsmith but there is a lot I can do and work on myself. Unfortunately I don't work on other people's guns. Depending on what you're looking for I might be able to walk you through the process. I took my Ruger Speed Six from this

That was under the guidance of a good friend who's a gunsmith but I learned a ton working on that gun. I was going to have Howard fit a new cylinder to it but once I found the correct cylinder I needed (Ruger changed some things on the late models) I was able to figure it out.

I have a friend who is a pretty well rounded gun smith that does most all my center fire needs. My tastes for shooting have changed recently and I have switched almost entirely to ML. I still keep a few ARs and hand-guns around, and a couple S-guns. I do as much as I can on the MLs and on the occasion that I need help I turn to the boys at Modernmuzzleloader.com, a sister site.
