Shortages taught me not to rely on just-in-time buying. Keeping reasonable reserves of primers and powder isn’t hoarding, it’s planning, the people who stayed shooting weren’t lucky, they were prepared.
Considering the life of components I find that having a reasonable amount of powder and primers to be a reasonable use of money in a time when the pricing is somewhat reasonable. I’m kind of doing a bit of dollar cost averaging. I’m not sure it is working great, but I’m trying to stay on the lower end of the pricing to the best of my ability. I worry that these companies will find a way to get primers back down to $25-$35 per thousand and then I will be stuck holding 10,000 primers that I paid about $80 1000 for. Still there will be another crisis and I will be flush with primers for a while.
