I'm curious what kind of firearm you keep nearby when you're sleeping. Is it for peace of mind or actual home defense? Maybe you've got a favorite safe or a light setup that makes it easy to access?

The bump in the night gun is a Ruger GP100 in .357 magnum.

If the perimeter breech alarm is screaming, and Teddy the Aussie Shepard is engaged, it's the Ruger Mini-14.
The GP100 is a nice pistol. Had one decades ago and ran 1000s of rounds through it. Back then, I wasn't as diligent about ear protection and now 30+ years later I'm seeing the results of my youthful folly...80% deaf, but with modern tech (hearing aids) reduces it to about 40%. The .357 round has a bark like no other!

I have two that are in my bedroom. First is the Springfield Hellcat and then the Glock 27. I normally use the Hellcat for daily carry but at night it lays on the top of my dresser. The Glock is in the night stand drawer and ready if needed. Both are very comfortable and accurate to shoot.

My Taurus G3c does nightstand duty/general home defense, Mrs. Magnum prefers a manual safety so it fit the bill. I know I know, I'm crazy for saddling my wife up with a Taurus right? That gun is extremely reliable, extremely accurate, and very easy to control. I keep my EDC close by as well so my Ruger Speed Six in 357 magnum qualifies too.
