Manufacturer recommendations seem all over the place

One company says use this weight, another says that weight for the same purpose. How do you figure out what's actually right for your setup? Just trial and error?

The charts from the manufacturer are just a starting point for me. After that, I go to the range and take notes. Every gun is different.

I stopped following suggestions and started focusing on what worked. I pick a couple of bullet types, test them out and see what my gun likes best.
