I find gun stores to be poorly run businesses in general. Sorry. Prove me wrong!
The issues are typically
- lack of welcoming entry/environment
- lack of engagement with shopping customers, especially people of color or female
- lack of resources for shooter training
- lack of training of sales people about products or how to appeal to a variety of customers
- lack of displays that sell product
- poor choosing of items to sell (I feel like this needs explanation….often cleaning and lubrication items are sold without jags available, with incomplete “kits”, with few reasonably good lubricants, etc)
- egos on both sides of the counter
In years past, this never bothered me as I was going in to buy a thing. Basically on a mission. They either had what I needed or not. Now, I’ve been trying to get my daughters involved and actually seeking for the store to engage them either personally or with their marketing/displays….ugh.
That said, I would like to shout out to Vance’s in Obetz and Black Wing in Delaware. Both have fewer issues than ive seen elsewhere.
