Fish Biting?

Have the fish started biting, if so, where are good places to fish in Lawrence and Galia counties? I just moved here after I retired from John Deere in Moline, IL. I grew up here, but have not lived here since 30 years ago. I used to go to the strip mines near Hanging Rock, but not sure if that is still active. Anyway, any direction is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hanging Rock still produces fish but Lake Vesuvius and Ohio River backwaters are more consistent bets.

 I've had plenty of days out there where it felt like absolutely nothing was happening. But still, chatting with the locals always beat just guessing your way through it, every single time.

Lake Vesuvius is drained right now doing work on a Valve inside the dam think there supposed to fill it back up some time in 2027 was some good strip mine ponds out 522 call it bear run out by the old cement plant

Those strip mines near Hanging Rock still get fished but access changes. Locals around Proctorville usually know the spots better than any app or website.
