Just got a new pistol. Then came the holster, mag pouches, extra mags, sights and a light. I think I spent about the same amount on all the extras as I did on the gun itself! Seriously, why doesn't anyone tell you this will happen?

Harbor freight has a good pistol light for $50! Make a press and buy some kydex for cheap and you can make any holster you need, exactly the way you want.

The gun "community" is especially plagued by gear stigma. Guys will tell you everything is "trash" and you need to buy the most expensive premium gear or else you're wasting your money.... The truth is that modern "budget" gear is absolutely fine. Don't get sucked in to thinking you NEED to buy a bunch of expensive accessories... Unless of course you want to and are in to that... In which case go for it.
However, if you are just trying to get by, save money and consider "budget" options. Now there are absolutely "junk" products out there ... But for the most part you can find clones for sometimes a fraction of the cost and they will perform absolutely fine
"Would you trust your life to it" is one of the most effective marketing ploys to ever be implemented. There are soooo many firearms decked out with accessories collecting dust right now that guys justify wasting money on because they won't "trust their life" to "trash" gear when they are in their fantasy SHTF or bump in the night, high speed, door kicking, house clearing, cqb..... Just get what you can, be honest about what YOU need, and become efficient with it

Well, for reasonably priced, but good gear, give Osight, Olight and Nitecore a try. A little less mainstream, but good.

If you want it in a non-custom holster, well, surefire and streamlight are the standards.

Harbor Freight is great for bags, bins, etc that won’t be lifesaving equipment

The extras always cost you. A handgun is only the start. Holsters, lights, and extra magazines add up fast, but you need them to use the gun right.

Oh it gets worse. Soon you will be anticipating what gun you think you will buy next. You will start seeing all the holsters, lights, ammo, scopes, slings, cases and of course the bigger safe you will need soon. Maybe even buy them before the next gun purchase. It is never ending so just get use to it and have fun.
