I am trying to decide between .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor for a long-range setup. I know Creedmoor has less recoil and better ballistics, but .308 ammo is everywhere and cheaper, what are you all running?

308 makes better shooters, the creedmore commercially manufactured is inconsistent, due to powder changes. the 308 doesnt kick bad, it has much more barrel life. if your messing withmildots, with no 20moa rail . taker your yardage and minus 2=holdover. after 600 yards add 2/10

500 and beyond?
Yea, but what is it for the OP? Often in OH, I find the cutoff for normal to long range to be 100-500 yds. In other areas. Short is 0-400, mid is 400-800, long is over 800. Other people push those to 0-6, 6-12, 12+.

In casual conversation, I think of long as over 400 because I need some kind of drop calculator over 400 to make hits. This is more of a wind issue, IME.

My 6.5 creed needs 1.7 mils of elevation and 0.6 mils per 10 mph of wind at 400 yds. It becomes hard to guess at those numbers.
