I went in our local Walmart this morning and walked by the sporting goods counter. They had the beginning of a section dedicated to reloading equipment and some supplies. There was still a lot of emty shelf space, but some RCBS equipment was already on display along with some bullets. I saw boxes from Sierra and Nosle, they may be others eventually. I seriously doubt there will ever be primers or powder, probably no brass either. I'm not sure how they developed their product list, one box of bullets was .458 caliber in 300 soft point...can't imagine much demand for that in western Ohio. Our store is a "small format" stores, some of the larger ones may have a more broad selection. I do want to compare their prices to on line sources once they get it a little more filled in.

Little update to this, My closet Walmart finally got the section stocked. Still no primers or powder, but all the equipment spots are filled, as well as all the bullet spots. I'm still a little suspicious that this was a wise choice, but Walmart knows how to sell things so maybe it will work out.

.458 Bullets? Many deer hunters use the .45-70 because Ohio mandates straight walled cases and it has serious brush busting capabilities. It's also a good cartridge for convincing feral hogs to become pork chops. Given the price of new ammunition, reloading is definitely an option.
I use a 444 Marlin find it great in long shots +

I think reloading is THE best option. I'm new to Ohio and have not hunted deer here but have in MN, TX, CO, and Oregon, albiet mostly witih a .270 Win. I've popped many a wild hog in TX with a .44 Mag lever action carbine using heavy bullets. Even a couple of deer but TX deer are small. The 45-70 was the favorite of an old TX friend who also hunted buffalo in Oklahoma with one. It will sure get the job done!

44 Mag is very nice, use in the field had a rossi used it for years, 22 Mag was much cheaper just have to know animal's habits, find a good spot to scope in on 2 or 3 plus hunt lunch and to top it off, take fishing poles cast out then go take care of pests keep a 629 with you or 686, Python, King Cobra all handy will be a nice day.

355 is the better bullet in OH. I’m surprised no primers and powder. That is the profitable item. Bullets are available other places and shipping cost has less impact. Cases too! But many folks think you shoot factory, then reload those cases.
