"You don't rise to the occasion, you fall to your training" I read that on a range sign, dismissed it, then had a real stressful moment and proved it completely true!

True story, stress doesn’t care about courage...it only tests how well your training sticks under fire.
 
  I actually had that very sign taped to my safe for ages. It really paid off during a car accident I was in once...I reacted exactly how I'd trained, without even having to think about it. Muscle memory, man, it's a real thing.
 
I bought into that saying after messing up a reload during a class. When stress kicks in, it strips everything down to just the habits you’ve actually drilled.
